Impact Aeration from GC Landscape Management Ltd is a flexible aeration system giving more options than some of the more heavily marketed systems operated in the UK. The flexibility of the system enables us to work both within the commercial anddomestic sectors. The Turbo Terra probe system is fully depth adjustable allowing for deep probe decompaction at depths down to 1m as well as allowing for shallow root zone aeration at depths of approximately 125 -135mm, this is an ideal combination for treating tree root zones where 80-90% of roots will be found within the top 60cm of the soil profile, or for aerating fine turf where it is the upper profile of the soil which needs greater attention.

The Unit is powered by a compressor system which is manually portable, enabling the unit to be deployed easily in restricted spaces or areas in which heavy wheeled access is not recommended. Ideal for use within the tree root plate in natural open conditions, or to assist with aeration of the soil in artificial planting pockets within an urban environment. The probes are manually controlled so we have much greater control over the depth of penetration and are also immediately aware of any obstruction encountered (unlike hydraulically driven probes).

Impact Aeration uses a controlled charge of compressed air to ‘shatter’ compacted soils, so re-opening the macro pore structure which will benefit naturally occurring my corrhizal fungi, micro fauna and beneficial bacteria enabling them to recolonize the root zone that has been treated. The re-opening of the macro pores will also assist with the movement of water through the soil, improving absorption of moisture in arid conditions and assisting with drainage in saturation situations. There is also the flexibility in the system to introduce a variety of beneficial materials through the apertures created by the probe system, such as organic fertilisers, moisture retaining granules or fine aggregate to hold open the structure created to assist drainage.
